The Green Files > Video: A taste of the Ames poll environment « Hot Air

[Hot Air » Top Picks] I consider this whole Ames straw poll as a snoozer that nobody gives a flying flip about, except political junkies and media types, but I think it would be fun being there. Without seeing the results, I’m still predicting that the Ron Paul cult will prevail, while voters in 2012 yawn over the whole thing.

[News Xazri] Video: A taste of the Ames poll environment « News Xazri: Earlier today, I took my camera and walked around the Ames straw poll grounds at Iowa State University to give Hot Air readers a flavor of what this event is like. It’s more akin to the state fair taking place 40 miles south of here, with food, issue organizations, and music joining candidates and protesters.

[The Daily Caller] Michele Bachmann | Ames Straw Poll | Ron Paul | The Daily Caller: Just returned from the straw poll, where I cast my vote for Bachmann.  What the results do not tell you is that while Paul came in not far behind Bachmann, many of his votes came from Democrats, who came, and I quote, “to mess up the results.”  Many of his votes were legitimate supporters, true, but the validity of his final tally is in question.  Additionally, many of his supporters were loud, obnoxious, and discourteous.  I’m so proud that I was able to attend, vote for a candidate that truly has a vision for an America that will unashamedly thrive and succeed.  And hey, I even cast my vote without the freebie food and entertainment–Bachmann’s lines were evidence of her support, and I gladly gave up my place and went elsewhere and paid for my own dinner!

[The latest stories from www.wnyc.org] Opinion: Why Ames was a Win for Ron Paul (Not Bachmann) and Where ...: Ron Paul may have actually “won” the straw poll because it’s an expectations game. Paul has a passionate following and is a great problem for other GOP candidates because he is so organized, can raise a ton of money, and is likable like Ronald Reagan.  But, the media has dismissed him as a fluke and don’t think he has a chance past Iowa.

[The Washington Independent] Ron Paul excites at Ames Straw Poll, calls for troops to come home ...: AMES — Tensions reached their apex Thursday night during the Fox News/Washington Examiner GOP presidential debate, sending Republican enthusiasm through the roof with less than 48 hours until the Ames Straw Poll gates .

[Top News] Bachmann wins Ames straw poll; Ron Paul takes second, Pawlenty ...: "I would say governor, when you were governor in Minnesota you implemented cap and trade in our state and you praised the unconstitutional individual mandates and called for requiring all people in our state to purchase health insurance that the government would mandate," Bachmann said in response to tough rhetoric from Pawlenty. "Third, you said the era of small government was over.

[Vision to America] Bachmann Wins Ames Straw Poll; Ron Paul Takes Second Place ...: can you image if Ron Paul was given the coverage by the corrupt news media as the other canidates what could be the result. I don't agree with all this ideas but he has stood fast for thirty years on his principles of a sound monetary policy, small government and not only auditing the Feds but eventually abolishing it.

[Mediaite] Iowa Straw Poll Results | Michele Bachmann | Ron Paul | Mediaite: Paul’s main fault is that he doesn’t see the determination of freedom’s enemy, Islamo-fascism, who won’t stand by while we here at home relearn the niceties and capabilities of constitutional governance.  Our populace, not habituated to such, doesn’t know what it means to have a war declared, as would be necessary in today’s environment.

[The Liberty Papers] The Liberty Papers »Blog Archive » Ron Paul Campaign Alleges Media ...: Then when you consider that 2nd place is a statistical tie (Bachmann beat Paul by only 152 votes) while Tim Pawlenty had 2,530 fewer votes than Bachmann, one has to wonder why the headline writer would write such a headline if s/he didn’t have some sort of anti-Paul (or pro-TPaw) bias.

[Top of the Ticket] Ames straw poll: Michele Bachmann beats Ron Paul -- by 152 votes ...: On the ballot were candidates who reserved space at the straw poll to guarantee placement -- Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Thaddeus McCotter, Ron Paul, Tim Pawlenty, Rick Santorum -- and three nonparticipants -- Mitt Romney, Jon Huntsman Jr., Newt Gingrich -- whom the Iowa Republicans voted to place in contention.

[Gds44's Blog] Reality check – Tea Party Nation « Gds44's Blog: Romney.  For Michele Bachmann, her victory is spectacular.  Ames is about organization and she had the organization on the ground to get people into the straw poll.   All Ron Paul does is win straw polls and for her organization to beat the Ron Paul poll stuffers is nothing short of amazing.  Her victory lap is cut short today by Rick Perry’s announcement that he is entering the race, but donors will pay attention to her victory and that will send all important money flowing into her coffers.

[Taylor Marsh] What Happens if Ron Paul Wins the Ames Straw Poll? | Taylor Marsh ...: He does have a reputation/history of winning straw polls. He won CPAC, RLC, Tea Party Patriot (tie with Cain), some South Carolina counties straw polls, some New Hampshire straw poll, etc.
