[DigitalHobbit] DigitalHobbit » Blog Archive » Rails in the Cloud: AWS, Heroku ...: Heroku is free for now, but as far as I am aware they are aiming for a utility based pricing model, where you only pay for the actual bandwidth and CPU utilization you have consumed. If done right, this should be a great model that allows developers to launch their application without committing to any large upfront costs, and scale up the cost linearly with utilization.

[o(ther)l/log] o(ther)l/log: Playing with Amazon EC2: Caveats: EC2 "adaptable hosting environment" is highly dynamic, you get a lot of freedom and reactivity when deploying your instances, but it comes with constraints that are not usual in "classic" hosting environments. First, your instance is allocated dynamically when you request it, and your image will be assigned an IP.
