[Advocate Kamal Kumar Pandey] LEGAL NEWS 22.11.2008: The Bombay High Court directed that written arguments be filed within two weeks on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by social activist Advocate Aires Rodrigues, challenging appointments of Mr Nilkant Harlankar and Mr Francisco Silveira as parliamentarians.The bench of Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice Nelson A Britto directed on the PIL filed by Advocate Aires Rodrigues, who also challenged conferring of Cabinet status on EDC Chairman Mr Agnelo Fernandes, deputy chairman of Goa Planning Board Dr Wilfred D Souza and Commissioner of NRI affairs Mr Eduardo Faleiro. The court further directed that the matter be later listed for judgement.In a application dated October 7, Mr Rodrigues had requested that judgement should be passed speedily in the case due to the urgency of the matter, as it results in a huge burden on the state exchequer.Chief Justice Kumar and Justice Britto had on March 19, after hearing the final arguments in the matter, reserved the judgement.The arguments on the PIL filed by Advocate Rodrigues on July 17, 2007, were initially heard by the High Court comprising of Justices R M S Khandeparkar and R S Mohite on August 22, 2007 and the matter was reserved for judgement.However on August 24, the court did not pass any order but adjourned the matter stating that it would not be appropriate to deal with the matter as a similar case relating to the validity of the appointment of parliamentary secretaries and conferment of status to Cabinet Ministers in Assam, was pending before the Supreme Court.

And what did they plan to make there?A mall.And who were the workers employed to build it?Non maharashtrians again.So much for providing employment to marathis.And now for something which is a pet peeve of Raj thackeray….outsider migration to Mumbai..I hear Sirish patkar and Raj thackeray rant about how the infrastructure of Mumbai cannot handle the infiltration of outsiders and how mumbai is getting choked.But can mister thackeray and sirish patkar tell me who came up with the Slum redevelopment scheme,wherein illegal slums that came up prior to 1995 were regularised and the people illegally occupying city land were made permanent residents enriching the builder mafia and themselves on the path to overcrowding the city.?And these are the same people lamenting that Bombay is overcrowded?I wonder why no one asks these questions to Sirish patkar and Raj thackeray?And lately Ive noticed Rajiv bajaj and Sahara mumbai turning into the offical mouthpiece of Raj thackeray and MNS.When this whole issue began…Rajiv bajaj was pretty honest with his comments and what he thought of all the violence perpetrated by Raj thackeray…but I think he has succumbed to Raj thackerays threats and is blatantly projecting a pro mns view these days.So much for freedom of press.I hope and pray that Jharkhand police arrest him on the non bailable warrant and ship his ass to Bihar high court.Even if he takes the whole of Maharashtra with him to protect him…it wont be enough.And his rats know that.Cause thats what they are in the end…Mountain rats.
