[Get Rich Slowly] It’s the environmental equivalent of trying to save money by skipping Starbucks in the morning, when your mortgage payment is $3500, and your car payment is $900, and you just put a $5000 home theatre system on your credit card.

[Well-Heeled, with a mission] Is frugality a trend? And will it stick? « Well-Heeled, with a mission: I’m glad she was handy enough to take the duvet (it’s also great for the environment - one less duvet in the landfills). But I’d feel uncomfortable using a duvet I found off the street, “wet and covered with dog hairs.”
[Frugal Dad] How Many Credit Cards Do You Carry? | Frugal Dad: I just enrolled in the American Express/Costco super rewards card and was going to make that the ONLY credit card (except the check card) that we would use. When my son went to the grocery store he found that they don’t accept AmEx.
[Maureen Green CNY dot com] Cents and Sensibility: 5. Buy staples in bulk, even if you don’t think you’ll use that much. It can all be divided. You will never ever stop using toilet paper until you die. Go ahead and buy that 24-roll pack. You can probably get through that 12 roll pack of paper towels too. Same goes for toothpaste and toothbrushes. Don’t be afraid of the ten pack of those. Gigantic packages of food can often be stored in something smaller. Go to the grocery store and spend 6 dollars on a small bottle of Berio olive oil, and then get a gallon of the same brand at the Warehouse store. When the little bottle is empty, refill it with the big one so you have something near the stove that’s easy to handle. Chicken breasts can be frozen a few at a time, and so on and so on.

[The Frugal Law Student] 180 Money Saving Tips to Turn Your Financial Life Around 180 ...: Finally, and since were not talking about taking away anything from peoples lives, well politely pass on the topic of suggesting people skip their Starbucks and brew equal or better at home own at a fraction of the cost [which I do]. Somehow, this falls into the realm of a tobacco-like addiction where (for reasons I cant fathom) Starbucks acid-laced cappuccinos and fattening but virtually coffee-free frappaccinos draw crowds of addicted and ever eager patrons to age in a long line and depart five dollars poorer for a mornings satisfaction.
[beingfrugal.net] Frugal Living For Beginners | beingfrugal.net: Basically, I go grocery shopping every second Friday on the way home from work (saves on gas) and then I spend the next afternoon making up all of the meals and freezing them. Its amazing how spending a little bit of time getting organized (review flyers, make grocery list) and then doing a ”mass cooking can really save a lot of time and money and is so much healthier.
[ProBlogger Blog Tips] Take a Trip to the ”Mall' and Improve Your Blog [Day 13 - 31DBBB]: I’ve always just used low-res versions of my photos with my blog posts to at least limit their usefulness to others just grabbing them off the Web to use without permission, attribution and/or compensation. While I’m not a pro photographer, photos are part of the package with me…and the issue of photo rights was one of several concerns that actually caused me to turn down a recent contract I was offered for blogging.
[The Housing Bubble Blog] The Housing Bubble Blog » Bits Bucket For April 6, 2009: “While certain mortgage problems are farther along, other areas are likely to accelerate, reflecting a rolling recession by asset class,” Mayo wrote in a report today. “New government actions might not help as much as expected, especially given that loans have been marked down to only 98 cents on the dollar, on average.”
[My Money Blog] 3 Ways I Live Frugally Without Feeling Deprived » My Money Blog: It’s great that ProfessorB has dropped his grocery bill to $90/month, but at what point do you decide that maybe you want to eat well today rather than save the money to eat well tomorrow? I’ve already poached Matt’s coffee idea for one office place (and he’s right about the bringing home coffee thing), in fact, I actually bought a couple of bags of Starbuck coffee (gasp), b/c we got really sick of Nabob and Folgers and realized that it was worth purchashing the odd premium coffee.
[Marketing Profs Daily Fix] McDonald's: Taking the Snobbery Out? | Marketing Profs Daily Fix Blog: What I find interesting lately is how often when I suggest going to coffee with someone, the comment is "Any where but Starbuck's! They burn the coffee." Yes, atmosphere makes a large difference because if it is to meet to become acquainted with someone and become friends and possibly may be a client, I prefer a coffee house atmosphere.
