[ScienceBlogs Select] Primer on greenhouse gases, III. : Effect Measure: For instance, I don't understand how a reversed adiabatic lapse rate at the statosphere equates to the physicality of a greenhouse roof, and if we are going to use the greenhouse metaphore as something more than just a metaphore shouldn't we expand it also to note that greenhouse farmers, in order to stimulate abundant growth, keep their CO2 levels much higher as they recognize that CO2 is a necessary requirement for healthy growing plants, the basis of our planet's food chain. Can you also address the H20 content in the atmosphere as a measure of the effectiveness of heat entrapment and its complex and the degree of dominance it plays in regulating thermal distribution.
[Prometheus] - Prometheus: Why Does the Hockey Stick Debate Matter? Archives: 1) important politically. much like the missing weapons of mass destructions in the iraq debate, advocates opposed to mitigation efforts can use this mess as an anvil to hammer their scientific uncertainty argument. ...... Most of the worlds population will never understand a fraction of the complexities of climate change, but the hockey stick made the point very clear and simple: 'the climate was stable until we started emitting CO2, and now it is warming.' ...

[Samizdata.net] Why 'science' is crap | Samizdata.net: Over the past few years I have been reading it, NS has become increasingly politicised in favour of the left, with the "editor's comment" section at the front now dedicated to defending a government regulator or pushing for more regulation, particularly on "safety" issues as well as climate change, more often than it features an article about actual science. Not that I am saying that the safety of chemicals and climatology are not science, but there is a difference between reporting some or other finding and drawing subjective political conclusions from a finding - the latter is not science and never has been.
[MyDD] MyDD :: What's the Sphere Waiting For?: That aside , even if we move along with that premise , what in the world will Edwards get from an endorsement from Front pagers on Daily Kos , they are probably supporting him overtly and covertly and most people on that site already have chosen Edwards and too a lesser extent Obama and they are both bot catching up with Hillary. I will suggest that their problem is that they are not extending their base beyond the so called " Net Roots " which they already have the preponderence and a formal endorsement from Markos especially or any of the Big Bloggers for that matter doesn't change any dynamic .
[CNN Political Ticker] CNN Political Ticker: All politics, all the time Blog Archive ...: I think the point has been made about Obama;s incompentency, so lets move on and focus on how you can pull us out of this mess that both the democrats and republicans have gotten us into. The bickering between both groups in the seante and congress is BS we need elected officials in both of these areas that are responsible and willing to roll up their shirt sleeves and get the job done.
[Deltoid] Climate Fraudit : Deltoid: However, they are in the range that I had projected ( I said from ~0 - 150MHa of addition land needed). I have taken much heat from Danø for this projection, so I was glad to see that yours and mine were in the same range, and we much lower than the Tilman paper which Danø is defending.
[Political Radar] Bernie Mac Makes 'Inappropriate' Jokes at Obama Fundraiser ...: But UK Climate Change Minister Ian Pearson insists that climate change “is one of the most pressing issues facing countries in sub-Saharan Africa.” And environmental zealots blame malaria rates on climate change, to deflect charges that their .The real danger is that we will handcuff economies and hammer poor families, to promote solutions which won't solve a problem that the evidence increasingly suggests is moderate, manageable and primarily natural in origin.

Good night America on its way to insignificance.
[The Ed Schultz Show - Ed Says Blog] The Ed Schultz Show : Ed Says Blog: Look I remember Hannity having Leonard Peikoff on at the time of the run-up to Desert Storm. This Ayn Rand disciple advocated nuking the entire Middle East and Sean said nothing to deter the lunatic otherwise. That was little Sean. Grown up Sean now caters to intolerant conservative home makers and boorish college brats.I particularly enjoy his brand of hero worship in his profiles and the mock interviews where he Hannity invites a guest and permits another to be the hammer while Hannity supplies the nails.
[The Hill's Blog Briefing Room] The Hill's Blog Briefing Room » Voinovich Finds Gore's Energy ...: Let's start with all the money that William Jefferson (D-LA)hid in his freezer and combine it with all the campaign bucks that Algore illegally shook out of the Chinese and all the money that Tony Rezko raised to propel Obama to the center of the corrupt Chicago political machine. Let's also factor in the money that Teddy Kennedy paid to have somebody else take his senior Spanish exam at Harvard and we should have a good start on the Save the World Fund that this pathetic, self-absorbed, fear-mongering jerk is proposing.
[Brad Setser: Follow the Money] Brad Setser: Follow the Money » Blog Archive » Why no dollar ...: “If the system were not designed to encourage that giant pyramid of paper wealth, American companies could have been investing in American factories, providing better paying jobs to American workers. The government could have been enforcing laws to protect workers rights and investing in education and infrastructure that would enrich rather than impoverish the nation.”
[BBC Blog Network] BBC - Blether with Brian: 'Rip it up and start again': As the basic state pension for 2008/9 was GBP 4,716.40, a single pensioner would need an additional personal pension of GBP 4,313.60 before being liable to LIT at all, and an additional pension of GBP 10,000.00 (a total income of 14,716.40) would result in an LIT charge of GBP 255.89 - barely a quarter of the lowest Council Tax charge.
[CNN Political Ticker] CNN Political Ticker: All politics, all the time Blog Archive ...: Add in the now-famous "witchcraft video", the amazing currrent relevance of McCain's Keating 5 involvement, the shrill and tired rehashing of Clinton's failed primary strategy, Bush's disapproval ratings, and the sheer, ugly, sickening HATE and long-ago debunked LIES coming from the McCain camp…..stick a fork in him, barring a major Obama catastrophe, he's done.
[Rugby World Cup] BBC SPORT | Rugby World Cup Blog: Well guys, as an Anglo-Irishman living in England and actually liking the place, I've heard a little too much about English 'bragging' that, were it to come from anybody else, would be accepted for enjoying past successes when you're none too certain of repeating them. The fact is Kieran, nobody - but NOBODY - in England has been pretending their team is going to win the cup, but there was a fair bit of inflated confidence coming out of the Irish camp, that in fine old English tradition, fairly sets them up for a fall.
