[ Trying to follow] In a remote area of the forest, 120 km of Santarém, in Pará, inhabitants of communities in the region and Greenpeace had protested today against the deforestation. The group of 50 people travelled about 5 hours in precarious conditions arriving at an area of 1.650 hectares totally devastated.

And if I recall correctly, the worst of the worst effects happened to the poorest of poor folks who happened to be living in State that is run by Democrats yet has the oil income that accounts for 25% of state revenues (by comparison, Texas' oil income accounts for only 5% of its income.)
