The Green Files > Global Warming: Why We're Not 100% Doomed
[A Tiny Revolution] What concerns me is not just the climate changes in and of themselves, because I think we could partially adapt to those if humans were sane. But because we're crazy, the added stress will almost certainly cause lots of conflicts and war, which will in turn diminish our ability to cooperate on a large scale, which will in turn cause more conflict, etc.

[Scooter The Wonder Dog of DOOM] Proof by contradiction -or- why small samples demand robust ...: The population isn't skewed at all, but the tails are way too light. The normal bell curve has a specific shape where 32% of the time you fall at least 1 sigma away, 4.6% of the time you fall at least 2 sigmas away, 0.27% of the time you fall at least 3 sigmas away, and 0.0064% of the time you fall at least 4 sigmas away.
[thinking.about:jesus] Dave Guzik on “Everything must change”: The likening to abortion to global warming is misleading. I understand the point, but he compares something with real and definite consequences to something with vague and uncertain consequences.
[Simple Bounty] The New Messiah: He seemed to have the most sane outlook among the frontrunners in that regard, but he has long since changed his tune. His current position may be slightly less crazed than McCain’s, but we’re sure not going to see any positive change.
[blamebrampton] Snatched: But in fact, his happiest memory had been of another black eye on Scorpius Malfoys face. And he had had a matching one, and the two of them were up a tree, panting with laughter, having outrun the older Slytherin boys who had ambushed them after breakfast, declaring that Malfoys were traitors and Potters were spies.
[VanHonk.com] Global Warming Hoax: I suspect you havent heard it because the mass media did not report it, but I am not alone on the no man-made warming side of this issue. On May 20th, a list of the names of over thirty-one thousand scientists who refute global warming was released. Thirty-one thousand of which 9,000 are Ph.ds. Think about that. Thirty-one thousand. That dwarfs the supposed 2,500 scientists on the UN panel. In the past year, five hundred of scientists have issued public statements challenging global warming.
[Mao's Blog - [untitled] -] I COMPLAIN!!!: Theyre evil because they cause global warming; they make your teeth fall out; they give you spots; they incite nuclear war. And, as if that werent enough, Amandas legatees tend to fall into the mistaken belief that the bogeyman is ...
[RabidApe.net] “Who designed the designer?” REbunked!: Our own view on this issue is clearly stated in Global warming: what is the creationist view ? We also noted in The Great Global Warming Swindle Debate that one leading global warming sceptic is the fanatical anti-creationist Ian Plimer .
[FunctionalAmbivalent] Leftovers: “That global warming is the biggest joke Ive ever known,” Wells told the Business & Media Institute. “Well stick a dadgum tree up somebodys rear if they want that and think thats going to cure something.” .
[The Left Coaster] The First To Die: The Republic of Kiribati is a collection of 32 atolls and one coral reef island, sitting just west of the International Date Line and astride the Equator. The highest land in the island chain is less than 2 metres above water ” most of the land is much lower, and flat.
[Semper Fi] Fire beyond the end of the world: More questions elicited her statement that global warming was simply another pagan faith - that global warming itself was a pagan faith, not just the science that described and predicted it - and that God was testing the faithful by giving all the signs of global warming to see if they would fall to believing it (“fall to believing it” was her term for it, not mine). I asked her, since recent firestorms in Southern California had come about due to record long-term aridity in the areas where the fires had broken out, and that that aridity was highly abnormal, something that only global warming could account for, if fundamentalist friends of hers who still lived in that area got caught in yet another such firestorm and perish of it, would they go to Hell for being roasted alive by that fiery illusion, as she called it?
