[Green Daily] I think I just passed into a new level of global warming fervor when I heard this news: global warming is throwing Peru's coffee production into disarray. You can mess with lots of things, but don't mess with my coffee.

[hunterkirk] News Clips: “Washington bureaus are cutting back and newspapers in general are cutting back on their staffs,” said Fournier, who warned that the result would be fewer “really good investigative pieces that stick it to somebody who deserves it” and fewer “sharp, edgy analysis when somebody is breaking their promise, or when they are lying or spinning.” Since theres an opening in the marketplace for such reporting, he added, AP reporters have a responsibility not only as journalists and citizens, but also as business people seizing a market opportunity to keep the organization going. Implicit in that argument is the idea that a Web-driven news environment has diminished the value of traditional commodity-style news.

[Comments for Kiwiblog] Comment on Global Warming on hold until 2015 claim Germans by PhilBest: Finally, it’s important to note that planners already deal with uncertainty–the wide range of future emissions scenarios being a prime example. So even if a climate scientist did (wrongly) claim to be able to quantify the risk of exceeding some critical threshold to some excessive degree of precision, the planner would still be faced with a family of different answers, corresponding to different socioeconomic assumptions.

That goes for everything else really.

[SGH] Saint Georges Home for Boys 1915 - 1991: It is so refreshing to find this site and speak to people who know what i had went through as a wee boy.I spent 2 years in nazarith house priror to going to St Georges, which still send shivers down my spine.I remember i spent most of them years being very frightened and lonely, it was definetly not a happy enviroment the disapline shown to very young boys was not love or effection “which was needed” it was pure brutality.Anon basicaly said it all in his touching comment, thanks anon. The one memory that does stand out, would be after the dinner if you were not dismissed you knew that a home boy or boys were going caned “jacked” but the frightening thing was nobody knew who it would be,i guess it was a good way to keep order in the house but it was extremly distubing.I had my fair share of beatings from both St geroges and Nazarith and to be honest it has made me into a much more loving and careing person with a very strong mind.

Just now I am angry because Melissa threw my fetilizer away, to keep it on an agricultural note, my special recipe with, I must admit, a fish oil base, but a bucketful of the needful for even Texas plants to thrive.
