[Mathew Gross | Deride and Conquer] About six weeks ago I went to New York City and had lunch with Laurie David, to discuss ideas about how to use the web to further the environmental movement-- and, in particular, to address the pressing issue of climate change.

[John W. MacDonald's Weblog] Finally some news about World Book Capital: Laurie Brown hosted Just Giver yesterday with guests Terry and Dean. "The supposed writers of Just Give'r, were the protagonists of David Lawrence and Paul Spence's mockumentary Fubar". After this event, if you were quick enough, you could also see the next scheduled event where Sophie Durocher interviewed Gilles Vigneault and Angèle Dubeau. Ãchange de notes entre deux virtuoses.

This not only means that the New York Jets will likely continue to play in (agh) New Jersey, but also that the odds that the 2012 Olympics will be here are similar to the odds that we'll see Mayor Bloomberg doing his next radio address lathered up in apple butter. In the wake of the decision, Bloomberg is expected to take a small hit in the polls, downtown development should get a kick in the pants, Paris will likely get the Olympics and those cute little abandoned West Side trains will get to keep their rent-controlled patches of mud.
[Archaeology.eu.com] Archaeology in Europe: Eighteen months after An Bord Pleanálas decision, and almost nine months after Meath Co Council and the NRA finally revealed the extent of the archaeology that had been uncovered by their testing, the Irish Minister for Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Dick Roche, has issued directions for the excavation of upwards of 38 archaeological sites between Dunshaughlin and Navan in order to pave the way for a motorway to cut through Irelands premier cultural landscape.
