[The Oil Drum - Discussions about Energy and Our Future] The Oil Drum | The Risks of "Cap and Trade": In the 1980s, the Swedes had around 12,000kWh per person of electricity, a good chunk of which came from nuclear. They had a referendum to get rid of nuclear power, and the option to abolish it specifically said "so long as it doesn't cause us any trouble." Well, they went ahead and built a heap of hydro and biomass and so on, and nowadays they have 25,000kWh each...
[Pajamas Media] Pajamas Media » 20/20 Mocks Use of Guns for Self-Defense: In Manhattan, no less. We needed advertising from a woman who was, well, who was just like you (except she was an actual woman.) So a colleague of mine suggested we take her shooting at a gun club in lower Manhattan (didn’t know there was one, did you?) Well, to make a long story short, after two hours we had to pry her sweaty little manicured hands off the Sig 9MM and beg her to go to lunch with us so we could pitch her on ad space.
[Pickled Politics] Pickled Politics » The monsoon in Dehra Dun falls mainly in June: And thats another thing bra: how can Sunny lecture us all on treating ethnic minorities as ”individuals and not ”communities when his own Web site has a hyperlink to Lenins Tomb - card-carrying members of the RESPECT Party!? Thats like, ya know, preaching to people about the fight for Palestinian self-determination, and then - under the heading ”comrades - linking up to the Likud Party or Mafdal!?

[The Truth About Cars] 2009 BMW X6 Review | The Truth About Cars: Uh oh Jonny, you just pissed off the anti-SUV global warmers that thought TTAC was a bona fide, banner waving, card carrying member of their religion. While they’re just beating on you at the moment, suggesting that a SUV could possibly be desirable (GASP), now that could get you crucified.
[The Daily Truth] The Sydney Morning Herald Blogs: The Daily Truth: This young country which until the treacherous politicians of the 60's and 70's, notably that scab Whitlam and his commie scum, got into power and decided to destroy the true civilised face Australians that had been developing over it's short harsh history...an identity that showed an Anglo/European heritage that demonstrated creativity, fortitude and courage while retaining an identity and loyalty to their European homeland, was replaced with an identity reflecting the multicultural bastardisation of races without any common values other than the almighty buck, it's only natural that real Australians would grasp at anything to retain their true identity, and scumbag politicians such as Howard and Beazley would try and make political milage out of it.

[drive blog] drive blog: Do you still have confidence in Holden?: For the record, I've always found my Ford Flacon's ADR fuel consumption, claimed figures to be fairly realistic and more often than not I'm running within 10% of them despite living in a very hilly area and running 90-95% around the city, likewise the Merc diesel which is within 5% of the claimed combined comsumption of 8.5 litres per 100km, the noteable exception to the rule in our house being my wife's Honda Civic hybrid which uses 50% more than Honda's claimed 4.6 litres per 100km, (Honda's fuel economy claim and the alledged benifets of a hybrid are a pretty sick joke around here as is their new pricing).
