[Untitled] Climate change over the next 100 years is expected to be marked with wetter conditions in cold weather and hotter and drier conditions in the summer. Crops will have to respond to the weather extremes, with the help of genetic modification, but they will also have to resist a wide range of insects and pestilence expected to accompany the warmer summer weather.

[Green Party/Comhaontas Glass Newsroom] Climate change hits Ireland: Extreme weather conditions, such as the mass flooding weve seen in Carlow town, Limerick, Dublin and in Belfast, can almost certainly be related to the changing weather patterns, as predicted by climate change experts. It is not until these weather conditions actually strike, that we realise the devastating effects that climate change will bring.
[Red State Rebels] Climate Change and the Iowa Floods: On May 27 of this year, shortly before the rain began to fall with record-breaking intensity in the Cedar and Iowa river watersheds in northern Iowa, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Climate Change Science Program released a study called The Effects of Climate Change on Agriculture, Land Resources, Water Resources, and Biodiversity in the United States. Many people worked on this project.
[O'Conall Street] Governments contrast in response to floods: North of the Border the ministers for the Environment and Regional Development rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into the immediate handling of the crisis. However, in an interview yesterday Sammy Wilson avoided any discussion about the wider environmental causes of this unseasonal weather and defended his belief that climate change is not being accelerated by human actions. It was not clear at all whether he believed there were any lessons to be learned from an environmental policy point of view.

[Climate Science: Roger Pielke Sr. Research Group News] Continued Discussion with Andreas Sterl On The Climate Science ...: If the IPCC models were run to predict the seasonal weather for the next several years (as initial value problems), and they could show skill (statistically) in forecasting the seasonal temperature and precipitation anomalies, then they would have passed a necessary condition to seek to predict for longer time periods into the future. However, they have not yet even passed this test.
[PickYourCause.com Blog] Global Warming and Extreme Weather: Apparently rising temperatures boost the likelihood of extreme weather, according to Tom Karl, director of the National Climatic Data Center and one of the authors of the Bush administration’s Climate Change Science Program. Perhaps we cannot turn to Mother Nature for blame.
[Climate and energy] Research Summary: “Economic Impact of Climate Change on Kansas”: By 2032 increased flooding could cost Kansas agriculture $150 million per year, with an additional $87 million per year in other economic sectors (such as manufacturing and transportation) and over 700 jobs per year.
[netweb Blog - Green and Clean] Climate Change and Health: As with other parts of the world, climate change could bring some benefits to Canada, including milder winters and extended growing seasons. But scientists advise that many of the impacts of climate change in Canada are more likely to be detrimental to our health, our safety, our economy and our environment.
