The Green Files > Climate Change and Natural Cycles:

The Volokh Conspiracy[The Volokh Conspiracy] If like most scientists believe, climate change is driven by man, then the argument for serious cuts in CO2 emissions would have more heft and would be understood as a causal means of reducing global warming that should not be occurring. If as Palin suggests, we're actually seeing warming that is due in part or large part to 'natural cycles' or some other hypothesis, then it might actually be counterproductive to have emission caps at certain levels and other policies to limit CO2 emission with respect to the ability to reduce rising temperatures versus negative economic impacts.

Within this regular cycle there are some recently discovered very short periods of approximately only a few hundred years duration when temperatures rise dramatically by 8 degrees centigrade above the slower rises of up to 7 degrees centigrade.

It’s a gas that’s been implicated in the greatest mass extinction of all time, and we’re pumping it out at an ever increasing rate.

Rather, according to the clip, the sun is the cause for this natural cycle, and therefore, the media and our politicians have exaggerated global warming and its possible effects.

Any hope that this cutback will significantly restrain global oil prices is misplaced, however: fundamental factors of supply and demand in the world economy will keep oil costly for years to come.

I decided not to personally question ideas such as whether CO2 actually makes an impact or not but view what the changes truly are- the fact that we are warming up and cities are in danger.
