According the Urban Enviroment

jibber jabberhttp://www.eddie.com/blog [jibber jabber] I got to do something pretty cool over the weekend. My friend Julian hooked me up with an opportunity to be a volunteer facilitator during UN World Environment Day, which really is like 5 days. My job was to sit down at a table of mayors and delegates from all around the world and be a notetaker while they hashed out the wording on 3 specific Accords within a category that most interested them. The table I sat down at was Urban Design and was occupied with Mayor Jason West of New Paltz, New York, Mayor J.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

http://momandpopnyc.blogspot.com [The Neighborhood Retail Alliance] Seifman Siphons Bowles’s Study: In yesterday’s New York Post, Dave Seifman, in citing the Center for an Urban Future report written by Jonathan Bowles, seems to imply that the study, done by “an independent think tank,” is unequivocally lauding the mayor’s economic development efforts in the city’s outer boroughs. That may be the way that William Cunningham, Bloomberg’s chief flack, would like the report to be perceived but there is, as we have already shown, much more to the report and the fact is that the study is critical of the mayor’s approach to economic development outside Manhattan.

http://uniformityville_horror.blogspot.com [uniformityville_horror] UNI- CRIMINALS HIRED IN HOMELAND SEC: This week, churchgoer, anti-gay legislation, Republican Spokane, WA Mayor Jim West sex scandal tore through this city's political structure. West's admission this week that he frequented a gay Web site and had "relations with young men" appears at odds with his 25-year political career. Yet, there are more serious allegations published in The Spokesman-Review that he molested two young boys in the 1970s. He was a Spokane County sheriff's deputy and Boy Scout volunteer at the time.

http://marathonpundit.blogspot.com [Marathon Pundit] Cleveland Marathon: The Directors Cut: At mile 24, my tight calf picked up an "evil twin," a suddenly acutely painful left knee. I'm in the Warehouse District, the place Michael Gollust of the New York Times calls, the "place to be, rather than flee, after dark." By this point, I wanted to be at the finish line, two miles away. Since by this point of the race, I'm running noticeably slower, I learned there's a lot going on in the Warehouse District, another area of Cleveland that the rest of the country needs to know more about.

Indeed... the blessing of local police, the mayor, community groups and residents. even for me

[CityScapeThree - Keywords about Cities - {A Citizine} :: Main Page] May 25 -26, 2005: A mix if you will, of news, media, quick takes on what drops in to the editor. The Inquirer ( Philadelphians call it the Inky albeit not always affectionately), also has a collection of vapid blogs like Spilled Inq which is like Spy Magazine. The Inky could commision blogs about some purposeful things – like housing, education, the current take-over of the public schools, the experience of teachers in those schools, The FBI investigation of the Street Administration

[Montgomery County, MD Green Party Blog] Cities are leading the way to a greener world: In January, Seattle’s Greg Nickels, used his state of the city address to ask, “If the federal government is not going to sign on to the Kyoto Protocol, why can’t we just do it at the local level?” In the five months since, mayors representing 32 million Americans, pledged that their cities would meet Kyoto Protocol guidelines of a 7 per cent cut in greenhouse gas emissions. Denver, Los Angeles, New York and more than 140 other American cities have signed up to the Kyoto targets.

http://blackcincinnati.blogspot.com [Blackcincinnati.blogspot.com] Cincinnati Black Blog: 07/18/2004 - 07/24/2004: I wrote about this on Monday, July 19th.  You had to know that after the New York Times did an investigation that found at least 50 people have died since 2001 after being shocked by a Taser, it was only a matter of time before the Cincinnati Enquirer tried to catch up.  You also probably knew that the Enquirer's story would be slanted in favor of Tasers bacause, after all, (1) they encouraged the City to spend $1 Million buying the product, (2) they reported Taser president Tom Smith's lies that after 3,500 Taser blasts only 4 serious injuries had resulted, and (3) Charlie Luken pushed for Tasers and the Enquirer isn't into holding him accountable for his bad decisions.
