[The Millennial Star] I am going to cover this argument - including why I dont buy it - in a future post because it deserves considerable attention. But for now, let’s just admit that it’s based on a false dichotomy between doing nothing or doing what the liberals want us to do with no consideration for any other possibility.

[Crooked Timber] Liberals in the Mist, Part III ” Crooked Timber: Was Dubya less evil for merely going with the flow, blundering into war for no better reason than to avoid losing the 2002 mid-terms? Were Cheney and Rove any less the fools for pursuing policies which, however ruthlessly efficient in the political short-term, were a long-term political disaster for their side?
[The Free Liberal] Libertarian - Free Liberal: Coordinating towards higher values: And more”¦ In other words I share many of the values of modern liberals, but not all their prescriptions. Unlike many modern liberals, I appreciate the power of markets and read economics .
[laney7986580] Buy Cool It: The Skeptical Environmentalist's Guide to Global ...: Gross simplification, however, leads to misleading generalizations and questionable arguments, such as Lomborg’s claim that a reduction in global cold weather-related deaths that outweighs the rising number of heat-related deaths means global warming is good for humanity. Though he argues passionately, Lomborg’s efforts seem more about pushing his opponents’
[Unpopular Ideas] Bias and Global Warming - Unpopular Ideas -: Because global warming makes such a great story, we forget that weather is always highly random and that bad weather has always been a problem. We literally forget what the weather was last week, let alone decades ago because it is much simpler to summarize with some simple story like global warming.
[Pharyngula] I'm going to regret doing this”¦ : Pharyngula: I have watched Maher's shows since he was Politically Incorrect and the central theme of his rant on this particular program is one of the best points he has made in his entire oeuvre. The main problem will always remain people's inflated opinion of themselves and having to tell these same people with shit educations that you cannot vote the results of bona-fide scientific data out of existence because it doesn't suit your mood of the day or because it didn't agree with some blow-dried televangelist prick's grotesquely limited world view.
[Vigilance] Vigilance: Eschew Binarity: So the President, behaving a little bit more than usual, like we would all interrupt him while he was watching his favorite cartoons on the DVR, stepped before the press conference microphone and after side-stepping most of the substantive issues like the Israeli raid on Syria, in condescending and infuriating fashion, produced a big political finish that indicates, certainly, that if it wasnt already - the annual Republican witch-hunting season is underway.
[View from the Right] Why the Gores split: Then it strangely proves that the Gores are narcissisticly absorbed in their marital friendship, to the exclusion of others. Their separation is unfriendly toward others, toward their children, relatives and friends, even to the nation at large, which sees them as a symbol of marital harmony and relies on their stability (yes, even liberals like marital stability in their celebrities.) Any way you cut it, their break up is an act of aggression.
[NewsBusters.org - Exposing Liberal Media Bias] Newsweek's Alter: Obama 'Prevented Another Great Depression ...: radio talk show to push his book and I was looking forward to some real fireworks. Unfortunately, none occurred. He realized Laura's listeners were not about to agree with anything he said or buy his book, so he bent over backwards not to say anything controversial, but the minute he shows up on a Liberal talk show, his true hate filled Liberalism comes to the fore. "Jerk" is too nice a word for him. Jim Webster
[Truthout - All Articles] t r u t h o u t | Obama, Tea Parties and the Battle for Our Brains: The Fascism (total state control) will be of the flavor of whomever happens to be in office at the time, and they will demonize whomever they have to with hateful perjoratives, like "denialists", "teabaggers", "wing-nuts", "Truthers", "birthers" or whatever name that will raise the hackles of enough of the population to get a lynching going - and just like Hitler's team managed, one individual committing some act of violence (Reichstag Fire) will be associated with the offending group and the people on this board will be carrying torches. Stop the banks now.Let's avoid this.
[Neithercorp Press] Neithercorp Press » Blog Archive » Flashpoints For Global War: Perhaps you personally do not have the reality of extermination in your family history or people’s herritage. Perhaps you have never had the luxury of living in a country that has been attacked by neighbors on several occasions whose purposes were none other than to exterminate you and your entire race race….again….and again.
[Walter Russell Mead's Blog] Global Green Meltdown Gains Momentum - Walter Russell Mead's Blog ...: Movement toward conservation, renewable and alternative fuels, and a decreasing reliance on hydrocarbon fuels per unit of GDP will continue and, I think, accelerate in most of the world’s most important advanced and developing economies. This will happen whether or not the IPCC issues another report, because it is in the interests of the major economies to cut fuel use to be economically competitive and to increase their national security. Efforts to establish comprehensive monitoring of CO2 emissions around the world will also continue — if for no other reason than that agencies like the CIA, organizations like the IMF and corporations like hedge funds and investment banks would like to have faster access to reliable data on shifts in global economic activity. The sheer blind bureaucratic lust for power that drives the culture of the United Nations and the world’s governments will also ensure continuing efforts to give politicians and their appointees the last word on regulating as much economic activity as possible.
[The Big Picture] Special report: Living in denial | The Big Picture: I don’t get paid to do that for my time on blogs…but anyone who knows Drug Industry since the early ’90’s will understand why I’m very skeptical of this “Push Back” on folks Questioning the World Health Organizations and OTHERS causing PANIC for the Impending FLU PANDEMIC.

[The Punch] Liberals should cut the crap on climate | Article | The Punch: But it doesn’t provide the basis for the Liberals’ new-found illogical position where they denounce the PM for failing to re-introduce a bill which they will block, which they do not believe in, and which the rest of the world isn’t really up for anymore either.
[Cafe Hayek] Progressively Uninformed: You must have missed the part where liberals rant and rave against overseas "tax shelters," where they scuttled the Colombia trade agreement, where they insist we should only trade with countries that have unionized labor, where they support tariffs on Chinese tires, where they're champing at the bit to "renegotiate" NAFTA, where they want to raise taxes on overseas earnings to prevent overseas investment, and so on. It's not 1994 any more.
[NewsBusters.org - Exposing Liberal Media Bias] Al Gore Getting Rich Spreading Global Warming Hysteria With ...: Al Gore knew most conservatives would support nuclear power, however in doing do, the liberals would automatically take the contrary position. I submit that Al Gore consciously supported the Kyoto treaty but didnt sign it because he needed an obvious rallying point for conservatives to oppose AGW by making it a transfer of wealth scheme. In this light, Al Gore is the consummate ring master. In the end, Al Gore knew enough discontinuities would arise to disqualify wind and solar as a viable alternative to fossil fuels, leaving only nuclear power as the answer. The use of the discontinuities basically locks a person into the false dichotomy fallacy of choosing between the lesser of two evils. In this way, the ring master presents the choices but the “Mark” thinks they are the one making the choice when in fact it was made for them.
