Climate Change in Kansas City: A Guest Weblog By Dr. Lynwood Yarbrough
![]()
[Climate Science: Roger Pielke Sr. Research Group News] Several years ago I began reading the literature on climate change that was appearing in Science, Nature, and other peer-reviewed journals. I did so because I was concerned at the alarmism I was seeing in the media regarding “global warming” and the dire predictions of some in the scientific literature. I consider myself a scientific skeptic and want to be convinced by the data before I accept something as “true”

Desperate climate change skeptics misread the news
![]()
[Millard Fillmore's Bathtub] Society, we kick off a debate concerning one of the main conclusions of the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the UN body which, together with Al Gore, recently won the Nobel Prize for its work concerning climate change research. There is a considerable presence within the scientific community of people who do not agree with the IPCC conclusion that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are very probably likely to be primarily responsible for the global warming that has occurred since the Industrial Revolution.

Future Forecasts - The Price of Oil and Peak Oil
[Evolution Shift - Futurist Blog] The third part of this prediction has yet to be manifested. When two of the three major Presidential candidates think it is a smart idea to suspend the gasoline tax for the summer, it is clear that we have a long way to go. Congressional outrage and investigations into speculation in the petroleum futures market also shows a complete lack of wanting to face the real issue. There is no more than 5-10% of speculation in this market. The upward price is driven by the realities of Peak Oil. What politicians are facing is the huge reaction and behavioral changes brought about by $4 a gallon gasoline Pain at the pump will be manifested in the voting booth.

Peak Oil - time to start worrying
[Alonline] These would very quickly allow most transport to move to an oil free fuel supply (air transport would need a radical rethink in order to be able to use fuel cells, but all other modes of transport could be converted relatively simply). Hydrogen fuel cells would also allow us to change the way we look at our power supplies as well, as it may be more cost effective for businesses and larger properties to move to generating their own supply via a fuel cell rather than relying on commercial supply.

[Green Car Congress] Air quality managers may need multi-year simulations to support the development of long-term air quality control strategies, to capture the effects of both natural meteorological variability and climate-induced changes, the EPA suggested. Air quality managers may also need to plan to extend the season over which they monitor O3 concentrations and be prepared to issue air quality alerts earlier in the spring and later into the fall.
